The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified the top four preventable non-communicable diseases in the world. These diseases combined kill 3 out of 5 people.

In California, I had streaks and streaks of bad luck from the start. My delivery truck was stolen. I was out of work. My truck was later found stripped of its wheels. I wrecked my prize possession–a 1967 Jaguar. I was busted on two separate DUI charges. I was strung out on cocaine and booze. I was attacked by a street gang on my way home from a bar. Last year, my husband started having problems with retaining fluid. His legs suddenly became swollen and painful. His job requires him to be on his feet all day and he kept ignoring advice from family and friends to go to a doctor. When simply walking across the room became unbearable due to the swelling and tightness, he made and kept his first doctor’s appointment in over 3 years.

His doctor started him on medication for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes and we were told to come back in a month. It was at the follow-up visit that a concern over kidney function results was first mentioned. When further lab work showed abnormal values we were referred to a renal specialist.

GAMSAT held during the late march in Australia and Ireland. It occurs during the mid of the September in UK. The syllabus and questions are common for all.

It was also an opportunity to give him some “entrepreneurial” exposure. If you have followed any of my articles from the past, you know that I am a firm believer in raising our students with entrepreneurial skills. The world is changing rapidly and technology is allowing companies to accomplish more with less human resources. Furthermore, companies that are hiring are looking for employees that “think like entrepreneurs.” I believe it is vital that our children learn skills to make a living for themselves, if they should ever need to do so. Or, at least, be as marketable as possible.

The next budget to consider is your monthly operating expenses. The good news is that some of the expenses in your startup budget will not exist or will be considerably less in this budget. The bad news is that there will be other expenses to consider. These items could include any loans that you took out, payment of taxes, dues and subscriptions, repairs and maintenance, and payroll. Add up these expenses, plus equipment, inventory, supplies, professional fees, insurance, licenses and permits, utilities, advertising, miscellaneous, and personal living expenses. Now you have an idea of what your monthly expenses will be.
